FORMER GAA STAR ENDA GORMLEY CHARGED OVER ASSAULT

Enda Gormley 1THE case against former Derry GAA star Enda Gormley on an assault charge was adjourned today.

Mr Gormley, who address was given on court papers as Onslow Street in Belfast, is accused of assaulting Austin Convery on November 23, 2014, causing him grievous bodily harm contrary to the Offences Against the Persons Act 1861.

District Judge Alan White adjourned the case at Magherafelt Magistrates’ Court until Thursday, June 1.

On that date Mr Gormley will be asked on how he intends to plead to the charge and if the matter will then be listed for a preliminary inquiry to examine the facts and evidence.

Gormley, who did not appear in court, was part of Derry’s 1993 All Ireland winning squad.
