SINN Fein councillor Colly Kelly says there is no money available to cut back trees in Derry’s Westland Park.

Transport NI have said they whilst they own land with major trees on it overlooking homes in Westend Park facing onto Elmwood Terrace they will not be cutting the trees back due to budgets and bird nesting.

Sinn Féin Councillor Colly Kelly said: “I was contacted by residents who asked for the large trees there to be cut back.

“The trees have grown to a considerable height and in some cases dwarfing the homes in Westend Park causing light and  views issues.

“I would ask Transport NI to look at this decision again particularly before the onset off the winter months.”
