A 35-year-old man has faced a court charged with attempted murder after a bomb was left under a police officer’s car at Eglinton in Co Derry last year.

Sean McVeigh, who is unemployed and from Victoria Street in Lurgan, was accused of possessing explosives with intent to endanger life when he appeared at Derry Magistrates’ Court.

He was arrested on Saturday in Portadown by detectives from the PSNI’s Terrorist Investigation Unit.

McVeigh was remanded in custody to Maghaberry Prison.

Bail is expected to be applied for at a later date.
