Beautiful Bronagh McMenamin who lost her brave battle against cystic fibrosis

HUNDREDS of people are expected to turn out today to pay their respects and say their tearful farewells to a former Derry City Ladies footballer who has died at the age of 24.

Bronagh McMenamin, from the Waterside area of the city, tragically died in the City Hospital, Belfast on Tuesday, May 3, following a battle with Cystic Fibrosis.

Her remains leave her sorrowing family home at Poplar Road, Waterside at 9.30 am for 10 am Requiem Mass at the Church of the Immaculate Conception on Trench Road, Derry.

She will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ardmore.

Her parents William and Margaret (nee Nash) and brother Aaron had maintained a bedside vigil for the young woman after her health deteriorated last month.

Friends had also asked for those close to her to change their profile picture and post messages of support for her while she was unwell.

The former North West Regional College student had played for Derry City Ladies football club for several years despite her fight with the genetic condition, which affects the lungs and digestive system.

Scores of people have posted messages on Derry Daily’s Facebook page paying tribute to Bronagh.

Lorretta Bradley posted on the Derry Daily Facebook page:
