Sister Clare Theresa Crockett who was tragically killed in Ecuador earthquake disaster

THE agonising wait is almost over the heartbroken Crockett family to be reunited with devoted and humble Sister Clare.

Her remains will be flown home this Friday night, April 29, following her tragic death in the Ecuadorian earthquake disaster just over two weeks ago.

Following a wake at her parents home in Iona Court, Brandywell, her remains will be removed next Monday, May 2, at 11.20 am for midday Requiem Mass at St Columba’s Church, Long Tower.

Following Requiem Mass, Sister Clare will laid to rest in the City Cemetery.

The 33-year-old – who gave up her life to “follow in the Lord’s footsteps” after she received a calling on a religious pilgrimage – was shepherding young children out of a school in Playa Prieta when the 7.8 magnitude earthquake rocked the south American country.

Mass was said earlier this week in Jacksonville, Florida where she had been based before moving to Ecuador with her Home of The Mother Order.

A Mass was also offered up in her memory in Rome this week.

Sister Clare is fondly remembered in this picture smiling and playing her guitar,
