Derry City manager Kenny Shiels gets a tough away draw to Cork in EA Sports Cup quarter final

DERRY CITY have been handed a tough EA Sports Cup quarter-final draw against Cork City.

The Candystripes beat Sligo Rovers on Tuesday night with home boy Nathan Boyle bagging a brace.

Now Kenny Shiels’ team travel to Turner’s Cross for the big clash against Cork on Monday, May 2.

Cork reached the quarter final stage after blitzing Waterford United 7-0.

Holders St Pat’s Athletic visit Bray Wanderers while there’s a Dublin derby between Shelbourne and Shamrock Rovers.

Limerick host Galway United in the other quarter-final on Monday, 2 May.

Derry sit second in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division table after an excellent start with 17 points from their opening eight games.

The Leesiders are in sixth position.

Derry are back in league action tomorrow night, Friday, April 22, with a home game against 8th placed Bohemians (kick off 7.45 pm)
