The scorched interior door of the property at Kennaught Terrace in Limavady following an arson attack at the weekend

THIS is the scene of the weekend fire in Limavady where two local officers and a member of the public went into the property to make sure no one was trapped.

Two PSNI officers required hospital treatment for smoke inhalation.

The fire was started deliberately and investigation is underway to trace thos behind the attack.

A police spokesperson said: “We would appeal to anyone who were in Kennaught Terrace during the early hours of Sunday and saw anything suspicious let us know.

“This could have been much worse.”

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Graham Glass has also appealed to anyone who may have noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the area to come forward.

He is also appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact detectives in Coleraine at the Reactive and Organised Crime Branch on the 101 non-emergency number.

Alternatively anyone who wants to provide information can give it anonymously to Crimestoppers on the freephone number 0800 555 111.
