Teen male quizzed over rape of teen girl in Derry on St Patrick’s Day

DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Rape Crime Unit are investigating a report of a serious sexual assault on a teenage girl in Derry St Patrick’s Day.

It has been reported that she was raped in the Bank Place area near the Guildhall on Thursday evening after thousands of people flock to the city to celebrate the St Patrick’s Day Carnival.

A teenager was arrested under the Sexual Offences Order and taken to Strand Road police station for questioning.

He has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Detectives are now awaiting the results of both forensic and DNA tests.
