SINN Féin Councillor Colly Kelly who hosted a multi agency meeting attended by a large number of residents from Gartan Square in the aftermath of several anti community incidents there said the meeting was “positive and in problem solving mode”.
The meeting took place against a backdrop of anti community activity and a serious fire at the flats complex last month.
Councillor Kelly said: “It was important that this meeting took place.
“Residents are at their wits end with the incidents going on in and around their homes with the most serious being the fire there last month during which residents living on the top floor were lucky to escape from their homes.
“They raised their concerns and asked for whatever help there could be in resolving these issues to let them live in peace and quiet.
“An onsite meeting will take place on Tuesday with all the agencies to see what measures can be put in place as speedily as possible to help residents out.”
