SINN Féin Councillor Sandra Duffy is urging the public to help police catch a mugger in Derry.

It follows the news that a woman was assaulted by two males while out walking along the Skeoge Road on Sunday night.

Inspector Gregory Smyth said: “This lady was attacked close to the entrance to Glenabbey by two males.

“One of the males demanded her phone and as she handed it over they attacked her leaving her with cuts and bruises to her body.”

Cllr Duffy said today: “This must have been a very frightened experience for this women.

“It’s a very popular area for people out walking and running and is the last you would expect to happen.

“I would urge anyone with information to give it to the police.”
