Missing Derry pensioner John Concannon

A NEW foot search is to take place tomorrow for missing Derry pensioner John Concannon.

Volunteers, family, friends and neighbours will gather at 12 noon on Sunday, January 3 in Co Donegal.

They will gather at Blackthorn Amusements in Bridgend just over the border from Derry.

A message on the Facebook page ‘Foot Search for John Concannon’ states: “The cars will be parked at Blackthorn.

“Searchers will be split into groups and a miniibus has been arranged to take you to drop off point and collect you again once search is completed.

“Dress smart for the weather.

“It is very important to wear suitable waterproof clothing, gloves, scarf etc and a good pair of sturdy waterproof boots or waterboots.

“Please wear a high viz vest if you have one.

“Please share and spread the word. Hope to see you all there.”

The 71-year-old pensioner has been missing since November 10 after getting on the wrong bus in Derry.

John, from Galliagh, suffers from dementia which may have led him to hopping on the wrong bus.

Despite extensive searches and a large leaflet drop campaign on both sides of the Derry/Donegal border, there has been no sightings of John for almost two months.

The PSNI and Gardai have carried out a number of searches for John without any trace of the pensioner.

His disappearance has been heartbreaking for his family. It was the first Christmas they had without him.
