MCGLONE CONDEMNS HATE-FUELLED ATTACKS ON SOUTH DERRY HOMES

patsy mcglone 1SDLP Mid Ulster MLA Patsy McGlone has condemned hate-fuelled attacks in a south Derry village earlier this week.

Sectarian and homophobic graffiti had been painted on a number of homes in the village of Curran.

Mr McGlone said: “I want to outrightly condemn the sectarian and homophobic graffiti that was daubed on a number of homes in the village of Curran.

“These were very sinister attacks on local residents carried out by bigots who do not represent the people of this area.

“I called at the homes of those targeted by these bigots last night to offer my support at what is a very difficult and stressful time.

“No one deserves to have their home attacked in such a vicious way.

“This kind of visceral sectarianism and homophobia has no place in Curran or in Mid Ulster where the vast majority of people welcome the rich diversity within our community and want to live in peace and respect with their neighbours.

“I would encourage anyone with any information about this crime, which police believe took place between Monday night and Tuesday morning, to get in touch with the PSNI as soon as possible.”
