DERRY City and Strabane District Council has agreed to provide the entire funding required for the construction of a Play Park for the wider Strathfoyle community.

Sinn Féin Councillor Paul Fleming has welcomed the decision today by the Governance and Strategic Planning Committee to support his party’s motion.

Said Cllr Fleming: “I welcome today’s decision by the committee to back our motion calling on the council to provide the entire funding required for the construction of a Play Park for the wider Strathfoyle community.

“This will now move to the next meeting of the full council for ratification.

“This is very positive news for  residents of the Strathfoyle area just weeks before Christmas.

“As part of Sinn Féin’s involvement in attempting to secure play facilities for Strathfoyle we have been committed to working genuinely and sincerely in coming up with solutions.

“We will ensure that the commencement and completion of this project takes place as quickly as possible.”
