MASKED MEN ATTACK COUPLE WITH BASEBALL BATS IN CO DERRY HOME

Police crime scene picDETECTIVES are hunting masked raiders who sledgehammered their way into a couple’s Co Derry home and then brutally assaulted them with baseball bats.

The man and woman are now recovering after being injured in the vicious overnight attack.

Police say horrendous attack occurred at a house in Oakvale Terrace in Maghera in Co Derry at around 1.10 am this morning, Wednesday, November 25.

Three masked men forced their way into the house using the sledgehammer and assaulted a 24-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman.

Both were taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Will Tate said: “I would ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives at Cookstown Police Station on the non emergency number 101.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
