NEIGHBOURS, friends and family will today start a third day of a volunteer ‘foot search’ for missing John Concannon.

Anyone interested in joining the search is asked to meet at the Irish School this morning at Lenamore Road at 11.30 am.

John, who is 71 and from Galliagh’s Altcar Park, suffers from dementia.

A Facebook page has been set up called ‘Foot Search For John Concannon’.

It reads: “As neighbours of John Concannon myself and a few others would like to assist in the search to bring him home.

“I realise it’s short notice but the change in the weather and the length of time since the last sighting of John has really promoted us to feel that the search needs to be stepped up.

“If anyone would like to join us attend this event as all information will be posted here.

“If everyone could please share this event, even if you can’t attend in order to find as many volunteers as possible before the morning we would be grateful.

“If anyone has any suggestions of how we could organise ourselves into groups, places we should focus our search etc or how we could do it most effectively please feel free to share your thoughts in this event.”

John has been missing for almost two weeks ago.

He was last sighted on CCTV getting on the wrong bus on the Lenamore Road.

Searches have been carried out on both sides of the border for the pensioner.

Gardai in Donegal have urged farmers to check sheds and outbuildings in case John took refuge from the winter elements.
