Dylan McNicholl 1THIS is the 20-year-old man Dylan McNicholl who was knocked down and killed yesterday in Co Derry.

Dylan was struck by a Volkswagen Caddy van in the Garvagh area at about 7.40 am.

It is understood he had been walking along the Tirkeeran Road when the accident happened.

Mr McNicholl was a student at the North West Regional College in Limavady.

It is believed he was walking along the road to catch a bus to Limavady for his classes.

He was a former pupil at St Paul’s College in Kilrea.

Friends say he wanted to work in the maritime field and possibly carry on his studies in California..

His mother Ann and father Seamus are being comforted by devastated family and friends.

No funeral arrangements have been announced as yet but Requiem Mass is expected to be held early next week.

The van driver, who is believed to be in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

He was subsequently released on police bail pending further enquiries.
