Christmas craft show 2015DERRY’S Guildhall is set to host the annual Guildhall Craft Fair next weekend November 13-15 when the best of local and regional craft produce will be showcased as part of the city and district’s Christmas offering.

Over 40 high-end craft producers and exhibitors will set up in the stunning setting of the recently renovated Gothic building to offer the North West’s largest range of contemporary and traditional crafts for sale.

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Elisha McCallion says the Craft Fair is the perfect start to Christmas offering locals and visitors the chance to browse and purchase something that little bit different in a unique and radiant shopping experience in the heart of the city.

“The annual Craft Fair marks the start of a series of Winter events in the city in the run up to the festive period, and once again the quality of the local and Ireland wide produce and craftsmanship are outstanding, these talented crafts people are getting ready to welcome in excess of 4,000 of visitors to the Fair over the weekend.

“It’s the perfect chance for the Council to showcase local and visiting talent and to encourage entrepreneurship and creativity,” she said.

The Craft Fair runs from 13-15 November and opening times are Friday (2pm – 8pm), Saturday (10am – 6pm) and Sunday (11am – 6pm).

Admission fee is £1 per adult and free for children under the age of 14.  A series of workshops and music events will be programmed over the weekend as part of the Christmas festive experience.

Mary Blake with Derry City and Strabane District Council said the Craft Fair was a very successful event for Council.

“Once again returning exhibitors and newcomers will showcase their work in the vast halls of the Guildhall, the annual craft fair marking the start to the Christmas shopping period.  From artists to textile and knitwear producers offering a wide range of specialised pieces, there will be handmade jewellery, bespoke lanterns, textiles, glassware, books and clothing as well as hand crafted pottery, candles and ceramics. The range of exhibits is very diverse with something to suit all tastes and budgets,” she added.
