Paul Hegarty turned down the chance to manage Derry City on a full time basis

DERRY City Football Club have taken to its website to advertise the post of vacant manager.

It follows the decision by temporary manager Paul Hegarty do decline the offer to take over the reasons on a full time basis.

The Donegal man said he was not taking the job for personal reasons.

He replaced Peter Hutton who got sacked after a poor run of results.

Now the club has formally advertised the vacant manger’s position.

The salary for the post, says the job ad, is “negotiable” and the minimum requirements is at least two years minimum experience in the Irish Premier league or higher.

The advert reads:

Vacancy – First Team Manager

November 2, 2015

Derry City Football Club, a professional club, playing in the Premier League in the Republic Of Ireland wish to recruit a First Team Manager.

The requirements we are looking for in our new Manager:

  • must hold a UEFA Pro-Licence for coaching/management (or be willing to part take in UEFA Pro-Licence course)
  • a track record of success in the game
  • excellent motivational and people management skills
  • a clear vision of how they can deliver success on and off the pitch for the club
  • a track record of developing young players
  • Candidate must have basic computer skills
  • Full Driving Licence

Duties of First Team Manager:

  • First Team Selection, Tactics, formation and strategy
  • Strong Work Ethic
  • Delegating duties to the assistant manager and backroom staff
  • Indentifying new talent, Scouting for young talented players.
  • Media interviews for pre-match/post-match and weekly press briefings
  • Working to Budgets
  • Giving direction to underage coaches and structures
  • Attending club functions and other promotional events

Experience Required:             Experience Essential.

Minimum:                                    2 Years at Irish Premier League level or Higher

Salary:                                         Negotiable

Location:                                    Derry, Ireland

Contract type:                            Full Time

 Start date:                                  Immediate
