SDLP councillor Roisin Loftus has called on the public to be vigilant after several cars were damaged early on Sunday morning.

She said: “It has been reported that in the early hours of Sunday morning, a car stopped outside a row of terrace houses in the Garvagh area.

“A man emerged from the car and proceeded to damage several parked cars with a golf club.

“Cars are very expensive to repair and this unexplained vandalism will be bad news for the owners.

“Exactly what the motive or rationale behind the damage is still unclear.

“But I would encourage people in the area to remain vigilant and if anyone has any information regarding the incident they should contact the PSNI by phoning 101.”
