Police picDETECTIVES are investigating after a number of shots were fired through the window of a family home in Derry last night.

The reckless attack happened in the Whitethorn Drive area of Currynierin around 10.45 pm on Thursday, October 15.

Police say the occupants, a couple and their 14-year-old daughter, who were in the house at the time, were not injured.

Local Sinn Féin councillor Christopher Jackson has condemned those behind the attack.

“There can be no place for guns on the streets of our city,” said councillor Jackson.

“The people who carried out this attack need to explain to the local community the rationale for their actions.”

He added: “We are in a new era, we are creating a new society for the younger generation and the people of Derry just want these attacks to stop.

“I would appeal for anyone with any information on this attack to bring it forward to the PSNI straight away.”

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to ring police on the 101 non-emergency number.

Or alternatively ring Crimestoppers on freephone 0800 555 111.
