IT was the result temporary manager Paul Hegarty was hoping for and asked his team to produce.

But in the end Derry City ran out comfortable winners with a 3-1 victory over Bray Wandersrs tonight at the Brandywell.

Candystripes came out of the starting blocks at a blistering pace and Mark Timlin opened the scoring with a curling effort into the top corner.

His strike was quickly followed by a Dean Jarvis header to make it 2-0.

Graham Kelly slotted in for the visitors before a superb strike from Patrick McEleney sealed the points.

Derry remain in sixth place on 32 points with their next match against Limerick City.

The Candystripes were without centre-back duo Ryan McBride and Aaron Barry who were missing through suspension.

Goalkeeper Gerard Doherty and midfielder Patrick McEleney returned to the squad after they missed the game against Cork at Turner’s Cross a few weeks ago.
