Margaret Keys 3IT was the highlight of her career and this weekend soprano singer Margaret Keys did Derry proud.

Standing in front of thousands of people, Margaret sang to Pope Francis at an open air concert in Philiadelphia on Saturday.

Afterwards, she said: “What a weekend!

“An honour to be chosen to perform for Pope Francis’ visit to USA.”

She was joined on stage by Aretha Franklin and Andrea Bocelli who sang a wonderful version of The Lord’s Prayer during the special papal show which was broadcast worldwide.

Margaret said she was “delighted” to be among a group of world famous performers who have been asked to sing for the Pope in the United States.

The open-air concert was hosted by actor Mark Wahlberg and featured comedian Jim Gaffigan and the Philadelphia Orchestra along the city’s Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

Acclaimed Irish tenor Anthony Kearns also performed during the visit of Pope Francis.

Pope Francis visited the World Meeting of Families street festival on Saturday which had been organised by the Vatican.

On Sunday, a crown of 1.5 million people attended the public Mass said by the pontiff on Sunday.

The crowds stretched for around a mile as Catholics made the pilgrimage to see the Pontiff.
