shackletonA major movie due to be filmed at Co Derry studios has the potential to  develop hundreds of jobs across the north west.

The founder of Shackelton Studios in Ballykelly has said that work on two major movies will start before Christmas.

One of the movies has a budget of £65m and and will employ up to 1000 people on site.

However, the cast list is being kept a closely guarded secret.

Shackleton studios are based at the former Shackleton army base in Ballykelly.

Jo Gilbert from the company has said that the films have the potential to create jobs across the North West.

She said today: “”One of the films is British and the other is American.

“There is massive potential to develop employment and goods and services.

“You will have the big stars in Derry as well in the bars and hotels.

“Even the film that we have in at the moment, 60% of it’s employed base is local.”
