Ryan McBride opened the scoring for Derry in FAI Cup quarter final against Cork

DERRY City missed out on a chance with home advantage to go into the semi final of the FAI Irish Daily Mail Cup tonight.

A 1-1 draw means the Candystripes will have make the long journey down to Cork on Monday night for the replay  at the Cross (kick off 7.45 pm).

Ryan McBride broke the deadlock on five minutes with a header from a corner to give the Candystripes the lead at the Brandywell.

Derry City carried that lead into the half time against the Rebel Army who lie in second place in the SSE Airtricity League.

But their narrow lead didn’t last long.

On 52 minutes Mark O’Sulivan equalised eventually sending the game into a replay.
