Cillian Morrison back from suspended in FAI Cup clash against Cork City

DERRY City will be hoping it’s third time lucky tonight when they host Cork City in FAI Cup quarter-final (kick off 7.45 pm).

The Candystripes have lost twice to the Rebel Army this season, but boss Peter Hutton admits his players are looking forward to the encounter.

Cork are currently lying second in the SSE Airtricity League while Derry City are in a relegation dog fight in the bottom zone.

And Peter Hutton will be hoping his team can bounce back from last Saturday’s 2-0 nil defeat to Drogheda Utd.

Said Hutton: “It’s a great tie and all we could ask for was a home draw.

“It’s a huge game for us. They are a very good side who are still challenging for the league title as they are trying to run Dundalk as close as possible as they did last year.

“They have ex-internationals and vastly experienced players in their team.

“We know it will be difficult but if the players we have at our disposal play to their capabilities then we have a very good chance of winning the tie.”

City will be without Conor McCormack, Ciaran O’Connor (Cup tied) and Philip Lowry (suspended).

But Hutton welcomes back Ryan McBride and Cillian Morrison from suspension.

This evening the club will also be celebrating 30 years in the League of Ireland

And the majority of the squad who played in that famous game in 1985 against Home Farm will be in paraded to the City fans at half-time.

Footage from that game, will also be shown on the big-screen.
