TRAPPED INFANT BABY RESCUED BY FIRE CREWS FROM MUM’S LOCKED CAR

NI FIre and rescueFIREFIGHTERS sprung into action this afternoon to save a recently born baby in Co Derry.

The seven-week-old baby who was accidentally trapped inside her mother’s car in County Londonderry.

The drama unfolded outside a supermarket in Portstewart on Wednesday afternoon.

Her mother’s car keys had fallen inside the vehicle parked on the Coleraine Road.

And when the door was closed shut, the car’s security system activated the central locking mechanism.

However, local fire crews answered the call and managed to get into the vehicle and reunite the baby with its mum.

Mark Smith of the Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were able to release the door – and we’re delighted to have been able to reunite the baby with her mother.”
