Peter Hutton’s team travel to Offaly today to face Edenderry Town in the FAI Cup

DERRY City face amateur side Edenderry Town in the FAI Irish Daily Mail Cup second round this weekend.

The Candstripes to Paddy Maloney Park in Co Offaly for the 2 pm kick off on Sunday, May 31.

But manager Peter Hutton has warned his players not to take the match for granted.

“It’s a distraction from the league campaign but a bit of a trip into the unknown,” he said.

“For Edenderry, it’s their cup final so we can’t be complacent.”

Derry have had a poor run in the SSE Airtricity League of late.

But much of that has been put down to a string of injuries to key players in the squad.

Their next home match in the league is next Friday night, June 5 against St Patrick’s Athletic.

Kick off is 7.45 pm at the Brandywell.
