The Army bomb squad heading to the scene of the security alert in Derry’

RESIDENTS are still out of their homes this evening while a security alert continues at a Territorial Army in Derry.

At lunchtime today, police said two suspicious objects were discovered in the Rockport Park area.

Army Technical Officers are at the scene have sent in a remote control remote to examine the objects found close to the base’s perimeter fence.

The Foyle Arena is open to accommodate for residents evacuated from their homes.

The alert is also causing disruption to Translink rail passengers.

The railway line between Derry and Coleraine has been closed due as it runs close by the base.

Bus substitutions have been put in place between the two stations.

Translink has advised passengers to expect delays of up to 90 minutes on the Derry line.
