DOCTOR’S CAREER LIES IN TATTERS AFTER SHE IS CONVICTED OF DRUNKEN ASSAULT ON POLICE

derrycourthouseA DOCTOR who worked at Altnagelvin Hospital has been found guilty of assaulting two PSNI officers at Strand Road police station following a staff Christmas night out in 2013.

Now a large cloud hangs over the the career of Dr Eireann Kerr career following today’s conviction at Derry Magistrates’ Court.

Unless the 31-year-old’s lawyers can overturn the conviction on appeal, Dr Kerr will find it difficult ever working again.

Kerr, of from leafy Marlborough Park South, off the Malone Road in plush south Belfast, was convicted of assaulting a female and a male police officer.

She was also convicted of resisting one of the officers and disorderly behaviour.

Her defence was that while on a night out with work colleagues her drink had been ‘spiked’.

However, the district judge said today that although he accepted her drink had been ‘spiked’, it was not a defence in law.

Kerr was handed down a two-month conditional discharge.

Now her lawyers will go to the county court to have her conviction overturned in a last ditched effort to safe her career.
