DDTV: O hÉARA TELLS DERRY REPUBLICANS THEY WILL CONSIGN PARTITION TO THE HISTORY BIN

THOUSANDS of republicans have heard Sinn Féin’s Geared Ó hÉara say they will consign partition to the history bin – through peaceful and democratic means.

“There now exists a democratic and peaceful path to Irish unity,” said the Foyle constituency Westminster candidate.

“Sinn Fein has a strategy for unity – partition has failed, it has failed the people and it has failed the economy. It is time to consign it to the bin.

“Let those who continue to believe in partition make their case but we are confident in our position.

“For Sinn Fein, the Proclamation is not a piece of history, it is a living document, a guide to the type of Republic that we want.

“The Proclamation in its principles continue to guide this generation of republicans, a generation that can, and will, make good on the promise made in 1916.

“Our vision of a Republic extends beyond the economy – we want a united, equal and inclusive Ireland. Sinn Fein wants equality, not austerity.”

“Sinn Fein ministers are fighting to protect frontline services in Stormont from the worst of the Tory cuts and we pledge to continue this.”
