ANIMAL Rights protesters are to target a circus which has set up in Derry.

The Daredevil Circus – formerly known as Courtneys – will open on the Pennyburn Industrial Estate tomorrow.

However protestors have hit out at politicians for failing to legislate against circuses with animals.

Courtneys have tigers and camels.

Protestors say nothing has been done to ban such circuses from putting on shows in the North.

Silent protests will be held at each show over the weekend.

A protest spokeswoman said: “We cannot stand by and let this offensive circus be seen as entertainment.

“We are holding the protests in silence as we do not want to upset the animals inside. We would urge the people of Derry to boycott the circus – don’t let your children go to this.

“We are stunned by the silence of our politicians on this.”
