Speaking this week local MLA Michaela Boyle said, “We held a day of action on Saturday to promote the consultation launched by DCAL Minister Carál Ní Chuilín on Acht na Gaeilge.

“The consultation provides an opportunity to shape legislation to protect the rights of Irish speakers.

“The Irish language is a living language with more and more people using Irish on a daily basis and these people have a right to conduct all their business through Irish.

“The Irish language is a threat to no one and people should embrace diversity by engaging with the consultation.

“The consultation can be accessed on www.dcaini.gov.uk/index/quick-links/consultation.htm and I would urge people to make a submission before the 12 week consultation period ends.
