DIGUSTING YOUTHS BEHIND GALLIAGH VIOLENCE ‘NOT FROM THE AREA’

psni 8POLICE say most youths behind ‘disgusting’ behaviour in an area plagued by anti-social behaviour are NOT from the area.

Teenagers ran running battles with police after a night of behaviour which included pushing excrement through letterboxes.

“The residents of Glencaw Park and Leafair Gardens once again had to put up with gangs of youths intent on causing disorder in the area,” said a PSNI spokesman.

City North Neighbourhood officers made three arrests all of whom were under the age of 18 as were most of the group.

“Most of these youths were also not local to Galliagh. Their behaviour could only be described as disgusting,” said the PSNI.

“Stones, bricks, bottles even bicycle saddles were thrown at Police and residents cars with no regards for anyone’s safety or property.

“The residents just want to live in peace. We would like to ask parents out there, do you know where your child is? (We know where 3 are!)”

Fires were also set fires during the drunken rampage.

The incidents are just the latest in the area which have left local people sickened.

Community police and community leaders had been working hard in recent weeks to reduce the level of crime being brought into the area.
