HEARTBROKEN FAMILY: GEORGIA WAS OUR HAPPY, GO-LUCKY SUPERSTAR

georgiaTHE FAMILY of the 13-year-old girl killed in a car crash outside Derry city last has described her as their “happy go-lucky superstar”.

Georgia Doherty, from Clar, Redcastle died in the crash and her sister Lisa McCole was critically injured.

She was a mad Liverpool and Celtic fan and played for both her school Moville Community College and her local club Redcastle.

“In her short life Georgia touched many people as she was a vivacious, bright, loving and caring girl whose loss will be greatly mourned by all those who came to know her,” said her family today.

“Georgia was a very keen sports person and played with distinction for Inishowen Under 14’s at both soccer and Gaelic. Georgia was an ever present at Redcastle FC games and also supported Liverpool and Celtic.”

In a statement the principal of Moville Community College Eamonn Ryan paid tribute to Georgia.

He said she was “bright, bubbly and always was full of energy.”

The PSNI has appealed for information on the crash which happened close to the Tamnaherin Road turn-off from the Glenshane Road at around 5pm last evening.

Her sister Lisa is being treated at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
