COMMUNITY ALERT UPDATE: CHECK YOUR CHILDREN’S SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS, WARNS DAD OF GROOMED GIRL

vulnerablechildrenTHE FATHER of an 11-year-old County Derry schoolgirl has warned other parents to check their children’s social media activity after discovering his daughter was being groomed on Facebook.

Last night Derry Daily revealed that police in Limavady had launched an investigation into the incident.

Today the father of the child said he was shocked and horrified to discover a paedophile had preyed on her.

He said he had checked his children’s Facebook pages every month.

When he checked earlier this week his eldest child’s account was fine.

But he was horrified when he delved deeper into the account of his 11-year-old’s Facebook page.

“I just had a feeling, a gut feeling, that all was not right,” he said.

“I checked her private messages and found she had been sending pictures to a stranger for a few weeks and he was demanding more and more pictures.

“It was frightening. This person was preying on her emotions to get her to send more pictures.”

The dad has urged other parents in the North West to increase checks on accounts of their children.
