car-drive-snow_1791599cHERE’S a weather update:

* ALL postal services have been cancelled in Derry today due to the wintry conditions.

* Minor flight delays earlier at City of Derry airport

* Driving on main routes is fine; however motorists should reduce their speed.

* Car parks around the city are in a poor state. The Crescent Link retail park – on the MacDonald’s side in particular – is very icy and covered in snow and ice. The pedestrian crossing is no longer visible.

* Footpaths in Shipquay Street and Bishop Street are useable with extreme care.

* In rural areas gritting lorries have been treating roads across the north of the county.

* Driving conditions on secondary roads however remain poor.

* The PSNI has asked motorists to slow down.

* Translink says trains are operating normally

* Roads in south Derry are bad in rural areas, particularly around Swatragh

* Glenshane Pass is open and passable with care, but will deteriorate again after dark.

* Temperatures tonight will drop to -7C in rural areas. Expect a heavy frost overnight and tomorrow morning.

* The Maiden City Flyer at 8am broke down and was replaced by another bus; 25 minute delays were caused.
