THEIR astonishing bravery and kind hearts have struck a chord here and around the world – now you can help raise money for other families in the same position.

Elisha and Dermot McGill, from Aghadowey, were told their third unborn baby has a severe abnormality called anencephaly. Elisha is going to have the baby in the hope organs could save another baby.

The tragedy means that the baby is growing inside Elisha’s womb but has some of its skull missing.

Many parents are advised to seek a termination and most take this option in such heartbreaking cases.

But brave Elisha and Dermot have made the decision to take their unborn through to the 36 week period to see if their child can give others the chance of life through organ donation.

Elisha told Derry Daily last night that she hopes the people of Derry will support her through the next few weeks by raising money for babies born with anencephaly.

“We are trying to get up a running a happy hat selfie campaign,” she told us.

“This is where you can take a selfie with a hat and upload to Facebook or twitter and nominate a few friends and donate.

“We are trying to do this as when anencephaly babies are born a hat is put on their little heads to protect them, any help getting this viral would be great.”

There are TWO other ways you can help.

She added: As we are trying to raise to funds to set up a support group for families affected by this condition we have set up this Just Giving page. www.justgiving.com/the-McGills

“Or people can text anen90 followed by the amount you wish to donate to 70070. I want to thank everyone for their support.”
