MITCHEL McLaughlin is set to be named the next speaker at Stormont – replacing the DUP’s Willie Hay.
MLA McLaughlin is currently Deputy Speaker, and his elevation is part of an agreement between Sinn Féin and the DUP.
The Stormont business committee has agreed that the election of McLaughlin should be the first item on the agenda next Monday
Willie Hay retired three months ago due to ill health.
