CRIME ALERT: THIEF TARGETS DERRY HOMES – ARMED WITH A DOG

crime-alert-300x220RESIDENTS of Foyle Springs and other areas of Derry are being warned that a thief is operating in the area – using his dog as cover for being there.

A man in his 30s, walking a dog between 2am-3am yesterday (Monday) was seen around the Foylesprings area going through gardens and entering unlocked garages.

He entered and remained in one garage for a period of time.

Residents say he has been seen attempting to enter houses.

The same man has been seen months back doing similar activity in the same area.

When challenged in the past the man has responded with phrases like: ‘I was only in looking for my dog’.

Residents in Foyle Springs say the thief could be using the same methods to case homes and garages in other areas of Derry.

Meanwhile residents in Culmore are being warned that thieves – possibly three of them – have been operating in the area late at night in recent evenings, checking car doors.

If cars are unlocked they are making off with their contents.
