FAMILIES DESERVE ‘SWIFT’ BLOODY SUNDAY MURDER PROBE – TIERNEY

edward_daly_bloody_sunday-iiSDLP Derry Councillor Brian Tierney has said that the families of those murdered on Bloody Sunday need and deserve substantial progress in the police investigation into the atrocity.

Cllr Tierney, a member of the Bloody Sunday Trust, said:

“It has been over four years since the conclusions of the Saville report were published. It’s been four years since a British Prime Minister was forced to apologise for the unjustifiable actions of the Paratroop regiment in January 1972 that scarred this city. But most importantly, it’s been almost 43 years since these families lost their loved ones in the most atrocious way. We all know the truth about what happened on Bloody Sunday, it’s now time families received justice.

“A series of announcements about the future of the Bloody Sunday investigations team over the last number of weeks and months has created uncertainty. That must be remedied through a transparent investigative process followed swiftly by actions and arrests.”
