A DERRY dole cheat caught doing the double has been ordered to pay back more than £12,000 to the DHSS.
The woman was convicted at the city Magistrates’ court for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.
Veronica McConnell (48) of Abbots Walk, Derry claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Income Support totalling £12,343 while failing to declare employment.
She was given a two month prison sentence suspended for two years and ordered to pay court costs of £49.
She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
