DCI Una Jennings probeing paramilitary activity in Dungiven

DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Terrorist Investigation Unit probing paramilitary activity in the Dungiven area have released 60 year old man.

He was detained in Co Antrim today during a planned arrest and search operation.

Five men were arrested last week as part of the same investigation.

Four were released unconditionally including Sinn Fein councillor Tony McCaul who is now planning to sue the PSNI.

One will have a report sent to the Public Prosecution Service.

The 60 year old suspect was questioned at the serious crime suite in Antrim police station.

He has now been released unconditionally, stay the PSNI.

Detective Chief Inspector Una Jennings, of the TIU said: “We are investigating various forms of paramilitary activity in the Dungiven area, predominantly over the last four years.

“These include shooting incidents and threats.”
