Petrol retailer Maxol’s filling station in Derry is taking part in the company’s “Wash For Wishes” car wash fundraising campaign as part of its charity partnership with Make-A-Wish Foundation.

During the fundraiser, which will run until this Friday, 28 November, motorists who avail of Maxol’s car wash facilities at its Glendermott Road service station in the Waterside will see £1 from every car wash  donated directly to Make-A-Wish.

Make-A-Wish is Maxol’s charity of the year and the aim of the partnership is to support its charitable work in granting magical wishes to children between the ages of three and 17 years who are living with life-threatening conditions.

In addition to fundraising events such as :Wash for Wishes,”mMake-A-Wish wristbands are on sale in all participating Maxol service stations, as well as collection boxes in over 200 Maxol service stations.

Brian Donaldson, Group General Manager for the Maxol Group, said the company was keen to highlight to motorists the extent to which proceeds from each car wash could easily build up to help make the wish of a child come true.

For example:

· £10 could buy lunch for a child who wishes for a special visit to London.

· £20 could pay for a sparkly tiara to help fulfil a little girl’s wish to be a princess for the day.

· £50 could buy the special uniform for a boy who wishes to be a soldier, policeman or fireman for the day.

· £100 could provide a Eurostar ticket to help make a special wish trip to Paris happen.
· £150 could pay for a mini tuxedo for a boy wishing to be James Bond.

· £200 could help fund a magical therapeutic swim in the sea with dolphins for a child who wishes to go to Florida.

· £350 could buy a VIP hospitality ticket for a child who wishes for a fantastic trip to Old Trafford to see Manchester United play.

· £1,000 could buy accommodation at Disneyland Resort Paris for a wish child’s whole family
