zeroSchools and youth groups in Derry have been invited to take part in a new poster competition aimed at promoting “zero waste.”

Eden Place Art Centre is working alongside the Derry City Council and Zero Waste North West has launched “Zoom to Zero Waste” aimed at publicising the “zero waste” message – “Reduce…Reuse…Recycle…Redesign.’

The competition is opened to youth members and school groups from ages eight and above, with a variety of different age categories which will determine what exactly you will need to do.

There are three different age categories 8-10 years, 11-13 years and 14+ years.

8-10 years will be required to create an A4 poster, with a choice of utensils. They are pencils, markers and paints, and for older age groups they are looking for an A4 poster created using either Pixlr or Photoshop.

Winners of the competition will be awarded with a wormery for their respectful youth club and there will also be prizes awarded to second and third.

Anyone interested in taking part in the competition is asked to send their posters with Name, Age, Youth Club and contact details to Judi Logue, Eden Place Arts Centre, Pilot’s Row Centre, Rossville Street, Derry, BT48 6LP by Monday, 12 January 2015.

Winners will be announced on Monday, 19 January.
