Those involved in anti-social behaviour in the Strabane area have been called on to end the “anguish and hurt” they are causing to residents.

The call comes from Sinn Féin Councillor Maolíosa Mc Hugh after he received number of complaints from residents in the Castlegrange Park area that their houses were being pelted with eggs and stones and  that their letter boxes were also being “banged” late at night.

Cllr McHugh, the presiding councillor (chairperson) of the Derry and Strabane District Council, said: “Those involved may think this is a bit of harmless fun, but for those on the receiving end, it is anything but.

“Apart from damage and potential damage being caused to their properties it is making these residents, some of whom a very young children, feel very vulnerable and unsafe in their homes as a result”

Cllr McHugh concluded: “I would appeal upon the small number of young people involved in this activity to understand the anguish and hurt they are causing and to desist and allow local residents to live in peace.”
