Derry City Council will be helping to nurture the next generation of crafters with some cool and creative children’s arts and crafts workshops taking place at the Guildhall Craft Fair this weekend.
While the adults are browsing among the 40 exhibitor stands, youngsters can keep themselves busy rustling up some handicrafts of their own with the help of experienced workshop facilitators.
The free kids workshops will have a festive theme upcycling Christmas baubles on Saturday from 1.00pm – 4.00pm, and making stockings and tree garlands on Sunday also between 1.00 and 4.00pm.
There will also be live musical entertainment during the three-day event held in the Guildhall’s Whittaker Suite, which last year attracted 4,000 visitors from all over the country.
Music will be provided by local soloists, harpists, string quartet and female choral group, adding to the wonderful festive atmosphere at the event.
The line-up of musical acts is:
Friday – Ursula McHugh (2pm-4pm), Foyle Irish Harp School (5pm-7pm).
Saturday – Foyle Irish Harp School (12pm-1pm), Brandenburg String Quartet (2pm -5pm).
Sunday – Emer McCallion (1pm-2pm), Allegri (2.30pm-3pm and 3.30pm – 4pm).
The Guildhall Craft Fair will be open on Friday from 2.00pm-8.00pm; Saturday from 10.00am-6.00pm and and Sunday from 11am-5pm.
Admission is £1 and free for children under 14.
