switchenergyAn Energy Switch and Save event will be staged in Derry next week aimed at highlighting the benefits of shopping around for energy and how easy it is to switch supplier.

The event, organised by the Consumer Council, will take place in the City Hotel from 1.00pm to 3.00pm on Monday next, 20 October, as as part of Energy Switching Week.

The event is free to attend and will give consumers an opportunity to speak face to face with Consumer Council staff who will explain the switching process.

Consumers will also have the opportunity to bring along their latest energy bill and Consumer Council staff will help them understand it and use it to identify the best deal.

Consumers will also have the opportunity to speak with the various electricity and gas suppliers and make the switch there and then if they wish.

As well as providing advice and information on switching supplier, the event will have information in other related areas such as energy efficiency, switching bank accounts, car insurance, online shopping and general consumer rights advice.

It is one of two events being held in Northern Ireland, the other being held in Belfast.
