GOLF NEWS: WINTER LEAGUE WIN FOR MCGINLEY AND MCKINNEY AT NORTH WEST

northwestgolfclubStewart McGinley (3) and Kevin McKinney (13) won week two of the Winter League fourball betterball competition at North West Golf Club yesterday.

They clinched top spot with a superb score of 45 points in a contest that saw 17 pairs return 40 points of better.

Ciaran Quigley (8) and Kevin McGowan (12) took second place with 43 points.

Shot of the day was played by Jason Spence at the 370 yard 15th hole when he used his wedge to good effect to hole out for an “eagle two.”

With the best three cards to count from five, to qualify for the matchplay, the League table is starting to take shape

The top eight are:

1st Jason Spence & Mathew Stainsby 81 pts.

2nd Patrick Duffy & Jimmy Mc Gee 80 pts.

3rd Gary Mc Laughlin & Stephen MacLochlainn 79 pts.

4th David Mugan & Philip Meehan 78 pts.

5th Stewart McGinley & Kevin McKinney 77 pts.

6th Eugene O’Connell & Francis 77 pts.

7th Darren McLaughlin & Hugh McDaid 77 pts.

8th David McGeough & Paul Doherty (Jnr) 77 pts.

The full league table can be viewed on the noticeboard outside the “Pro Shop.”

Captain’s Outing

This Saturday sees the captain’s outing to Ballybofey Golf Club.

A bus  will leave Lisfannon at 9.15am sharp, first tee-off 11.00am.
