Almost 200 people attended the 40th anniversary dinner dance of the late Jon Clifford’s (Ugg) Tristar Boy’s FC.

Derry City manager, Peter Hutton, was among the speakers at the event, held in the City Hotel.

Other speakers included Robbie Mc Farland (Tristar chairman), Michael Hutton (D&DFA), Gary Matthewson (Tristar FC stalwart), Jim Clifford (brother of Ugg), Raymond Carton (Trojans FC).

Speaking afterwards, Frank Fleming, Ugg’s nephew, said the evening was a “fantastic” evening and a fitting tribute to his late uncle.

He said: “On behalf of our family, I want to extend sincere thanks to the organising committee for the fantastic event they put on, the City Hotel staff for the professionalism and fantastic food and facilities.

“I also want to thank Tony ‘Conka’ McBride for being the MC for the evening and also to Gerry and Sarah (The Bizz) for the fantastic entertainment and music on the night.

“It was as a very emotional but enjoyable evening and here’s to the next 40 years of this great local club.”
