GOLF NEWS: MEEHAN TAKES RYDER CUP OPEN SINGLES HONOURS AT LISFANNON

northwestgolfclubJohn Meehan with equal nines of 21 points took first place in Saturdays  Open Competition at North West Golf Club with 42 points. four “one pointers” were compensated by eight “three pointers” and a four point birdie at the par four, fourth hole.

In second place just one point adrift was John Mallon, a no score at the par three third hole costing him first place.

The best gross of the day and winner of the gross prize with a score of 73 was the steady Brian McCarrroll.

Third place was filled by Don Coyle, with 41 points, a one over gross of 36 on the front nine yielding 24 points which was followed up by 17 points on the back nine, the only blemish being a no score at the par four, 14th hole.

The back nine winner with 21 points was the ever improving Joe Rahim.

3rd Don Coyle (13) 41 pts
